In the face of challenging geopolitical and macroeconomic factors, the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) has achieved a strong set of results for 2024. The terminal, part of the APM Terminals group, handled around 4 million TEU last year, with import and export traffic rising by around 10% compared with 2023, thereby maintaining its position as the biggest container terminal in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Traditionally SCCT has been a transhipment focused operation. However, it has in recent years assumed a greater gateway terminal role. The terminal in fact now handles around 50% of all Egyptian container traffic.
